When/why
did you get involved with fitness and who are
your role models?
I actually started back in the day the
first year figure started (2002 I think?) I had
always admired my trainer from the gym because
she did the fitness competitions. I knew I would
NEVER be able to do fitness because of the gymnastic
element so I figured (ha!) I would try figure
– I absolutely fell in love with it and
have been at it ever since. It is such a healthy
habit and I just love the physical and mental
transformations I have been through because of
it! It keeps me motivated and knowing that I am
motivating others is the most rewarding part about
it! My female favorites in the industry are Amanda
Savell and Davana Medina. My favorite male is
Phillip Ricardo, Jr. – he exemplifies the
sport on and off the stage and has been a huge
contributor to my success!!! Oh, and of course,
Gov. Arnold!
How often do you train and what is your
favorite and least favorite body part to train?
I typically weight train 3-4 times a
week and do cardio 5-7 times a week. Each weight
training day, I group 2 body parts and alternate
heavy/light. For instance, I do heavy back/light
chest, heavy legs/light calves, heavy shoulders/light
arms. The next week I alternate the heavy/light
portion. I also do an hour of ab/core and extra
glute/hamstring work once a week. My cardio is
typically 30 minutes a day at light
to moderate intensity. I will change things up
some days and throw in intervals or sprints and
will also do two-a-days if needed for some extra
cardio. By far, shoulders are my favorite body
part to train with back and biceps being the least!
What is your inspirational credo or motto,
words to live by?
“To uncover your true potential
you must first find your own limits and then have
the courage to blow past them."
"You gain strength, courage, and confidence
by every experience in which you look fear in
the face. You must do the thing you think you
cannot do!”
